Lady Raiders fall to Dow

Photo by Todd Boone FLUSHING – The Flushing girls’ basketball team found itself just a step or two behind Midland Dow Tuesday, losing the contest 40-24.

Flushing came out of the gate hot and led 9-0 at the 3:35 mark of the first quarter and found itself down by one point, 16-15 at half time. Dow’s offense came alive in the second half and Flushing couldn’t find the basket, ending up on the losing side of the battle.

Sutton Bate led Flushing with nine points, seven rebounds and two steals, Thailyia Christensen and Mackenzie Pemberton each had four points and Christensen recorded three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Alex Long had three and Maddie Morrison and Taylor Wendling each had two. Denaj’za Jackson had three assists and a steal, and getting their hands on one steal each were Morrison and Jermani Williams. Pemberton pulled down six rebounds and Long, two. Pulling down one apiece were Morrison, Jackson, Quincy Davis and Williams. At the charity stripe, Wendling and Pemberton each went 2-for-2.
