YWCA of Greater Flint receives $20,000 unrestricted grant

FLINT — The YWCA of Greater Flint is among 150 domestic violence shelters across the United States and territories chosen to receive a $20,000 grant from The Mary Kay Foundation. A total of $3 million in annual grants is being awarded this year, bringing the Foundation’s annual shelter grant program investment to nearly $42 million. The grant to the Flint YWCA is to further its efforts to combat domestic violence and provide rehabilitation services throughout the greater Flint area. More than 700 domestic violence shelters nationwide applied for shelter grants this year, demonstrating a great need. Other award recipients use the unrestricted funds for basic operating expenses, hiring much-needed personnel, completing repairs and renovations or adding programs and resources based on the unique needs of their shelter and the clients they serve. Mary Kay Inc.’s global cause-related program, Beauty that Counts, helps support The Foundation’s annual shelter grant program.
